I suspect that in the near future blockchain technology will permit you to cast your vote in a format in which it cannot be changed by adjudicators and you will receive a confirmation proof that you cast a ballot. That proof will be an nft in your secure voting wallet that confirms that a real person cast a real ballot. The votes can be immediately tallied and new votes can't be "found" a week after elections. The nft will be proof that the ballot is valid.
