Good. An agreement that they wouldn't have militarization does not have any real legal or moral standing generations later, and with the threat of North Korea and China it is not acceptable to try and force them to stay defenseless with a promise of our protection when we can't even protect ourselves anymore.
This is good. The Japanese can be the second Free World power in the Pacific. Their Military technology is very good. They often adapt other countries Military technology that they are sharing and improve the techs performance.
The Japanese appear to still have their traditional discipline and determination when it comes to Military Operations, even though there have been a few incidents regarding civil defence.
For years they gave the impression that they were better at earthquake response than the Americans. When they had a significant earthquake, their response was less than adequate. The Americans were then able to advise them regarding better procedures.
Trumps brilliant work encouraging other Nations to step up to the plate, and not just rely on America to continually do the heavy lifting should pay large dividends to America, Pacific Nations and the entire World.
