I often use a low trump card to draw out the remaining trump cards from my opponent. If i have the left bower, king, ten, and say a nine of trump. Then an off suited ace. I know that if i lead with a nine of trump i can draw out the other bower or at least be guaranteed to win the trick.

It also helps to be good at stacking the deck.
