I poke and prod endlessly with the ones I can get along with outside of their political indoctrination. I just got one to go WTF with an article about the damage "decolonialization of math" is doing in the UK higher education system, got the "how the fuck is 2+2 racist or nazi".

The majority are ordinary sane people behind the walls of programming. You need to relentlessly test where the blockades are to find a weakness.
