Always looked forward to the Christmas holidays. Everything was shut down, and many went home or to nearby relatives. I always stayed at the barracks and pulled Charge of Quarters duty. I would get paid $100 per shift so that someone else could leave. Worked out fine. The base was always quiet at Christmas, no matter if it was Army or Air Force, we never did training.
