Also, he has been "frail" for years now, usually means "lots of problems." I think he held on to be a roadblock to Francis.
While Christians can’t necessarily put too much weight in prophecies. Saint Anne Catherine Emmerich had a vision of two Popes, of which would be at odds with one another. The vision also detailed that one would suffer immensely for years into his death.
It’s worth noting that Pope Benedict defrocked (fire, excommunication and hand over to civil authorities for Justice) over 400 priests guilty of sex abuse and child molestation. Also put into action that is intended to cleanse the Church of this evil. He did this in under two years.
Strangely he “resigned” while noting that although fraud his mind remained very sharp. For those who don’t know, Popes remain in position until their death. So it’s been strange enough that we’ve had two Popes. Netflix even made a weird movie about it
He also said recently "there is only one Pope." He was a very traditional theologian, as opposed to Francis and his world religion vision.
how was he a "roadblock for Francis", specifically?
As long as he lived, there would be a large group of Catholics who would see Francis as illegitimately elected, meanwhile the more everyone saw of Francis, the less they liked him. Francis is not long for the world now either. Unfortunately he has picked like-minded cardinals. It will be interesting times.
Infiltration within the church and a possibly illegitimate pope, much like biden is a resident and illegitimate
