In the grand scheme of things, this post isn’t all that important.
I’m a nurse working with peds in a psych setting. The importance of this job and the severe abuse many of these kids have suffered, goes beyond what can be said in a short post.
We had a meeting this week, with the person running it- asked us to all declare our pronouns. By the time they came to me, I was so frustrated I just said, ditto, echoing the person who was before me. Luckily, nobody pushed us.
One of the girls is -I assuming transgendered or starting to …she’s going by the name of Alex and wears loose clothing. Her behavior/mannerisms are feminine and she seems like a really decent person.
Mental illness is so prevalent among these, the younger adult group -they really believe this stuff and not only expect us to be OK with it but to celebrate it.
My frustration is this— am I supposed to remember out of a group of 20 - 10.., specific gender requirements.
How the hell are we supposed to remember the specifics? Not to mention, is this even legal in the workplace?
Its a job hunters paradise out there. Many good jobs urgently hiring, where you don't have to throw away your convictions for some dollars.
