Just a thought ...

Trump knows how deep the swamp is. He also knows that he will need some of them on his side, or at least not 100% against, when he (a) re-takes office in 2023/24, and/or (b) runs for re-election in 2024.

He does the math, and figures that McCarthy will eventually get it, one way or the other (i.e. corruption of RINO's and Dems), and so he is avoiding direct battles with people that are just going to make things more difficult.

He was cordial (publicly) towards the turtle and others, even though we know these people are swamp.

Maybe he is threading the needle.
