I taught patient care, including the proper use of a medical mask.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that the mask, as used by the general public, would only make people sicker.
Once a mask is donned, you can no longer touch the face of the mask. It is considered contaminated. The mask does not kill pathogens. It must be carefully removed either by carefully untying it from the back or breaking the straps. It then must be properly disposed of in a proper medical waste bin; not the normal trash.
I know with 100% certainty they they LIED about the mask. At that point I could not trust the medical community with ANYTHING else they said. They FAILED the basics.
At best, the mask is a placebo - I know people who wear them and swear by them. If you try to explain what you just said (not using it properly, reusing them, putting them in bags/pockets between use) they don't seem to care. They believe it's protecting them and I think belief is more powerful than we realize.

no such thing as proper use of a mask with regards to this scamdemic...do the math on the size of the virus vs size of holes in mask.
I know what you’re saying, but that’s not my point.
My point is that even if the mask was 100% effective at blocking the virus (though it is not) that the general public is not using the mask properly.
I have seen politicians shove the mask by its face into their pockets and then re-use it; completely failing proper use of the mask.
