The TRUTH is, the Republicans who know what's up wanted a Church style committee (which uncovered Operation Mockingbird in the 1970s) to investigate the FBI and other intelligence agencies (again) to show how they're corrupt. And the holdouts want term limits for members of Congress to avoid career politicians who spend decades doing nothing.
There are term limits on governors and of course the President, so why not members of Congress? They also want McCarthy to guarantee single subject bills so all kinds of things can't be lumped together into one bill which have nothing to do with the primary bill that's being voted on (aka PORK and other garbage)
And they wanted 72 hours to be able to READ bills before a vote. It's common sense, but the liberal media, AND brand name conservative media (like Sean Hannity and RINOs like Dan Crenshaw) have been attacking the America First patriots (Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz and the 18 or so others) holding out on voting for McCarthy in order to make him FIX SOME OF THE COUNTLESS PROBLEMS IN WASHINGTON DC.
That's what's what happened!
If we truly look at this realistically, I don't think any other Rep. would have been able to get the votes needed so the 20 effectively neutered him to the BENEFIT of We the People and MAGA. If it had been a MAGA candidate in the same boat, then the establishment would have neutered him/her to benefit the establishment. This was the best possible outcome available!
Let's not discount the fear factor that came from this leading to the nomination of Trump as speaker.
