This is what triggered me. Not sure I handled it the best way, but
Doxxing is lame. But so is sending insulting messages to people. The latter appears to have occurred first, but that of course was not mentioned in the OP. What we have here is a classic case of the referees (us) only seeing the reaction and not the provocation. Best to hold off calling penalties until reviewing the entire chain of events with input from both sides.
Especially people that threaten doxing unless you do something is straight up blackmail
