Texas 7-Eleven store plays classical music to deter homeless population
The owner of a convenience store in Austin, Texas says the goal is to deter homeless individuals from being there and harassing customers. Some customers say they're all for the music, while others are annoyed by it.
They play opera really loud at one of the locations near me. I was installing some window lettering for a customer across the street last year and couldn't figure out where the music was coming from, until I asked someone who had just come from 7-11. He said yeah, they play that to keep the homeless away. I just thought it was nice to hear some opera in our area, which is normally a sea of rap and country music.
