Gender doesn't matter...evil vs good matters...conscious vs asleep matters.

This. I see the above as a sly move to continue the divide and conquer strategy used forever. While there may be a element of truth to it, as you pointed out, it doesn't matter. Look past it and focus on the real fight at hand.
