I am reading Desmets book, totalitarianism that explains mass formation.

Desmet is brilliant.

Must say, though, Eric Hoffer wrote the True Believer back in the 1950's that explained mass movements.

Both are similar.

I highly recommend both writers, especially Hoffer. He was self educated and hated "intellectuals".

Both the left and right love to clain Hoffer as their own. He was neither.

A true original thinker.

Thomas Sowell credits Hoffer as his mentor who showed him how to think.
