Thousands Of Indian IT Professionals Now Jobless Scrambling For Options To Stay In The U.S.
As per some industry insiders, between 30 to 40% of those laid off recently are Indian IT professionals, a significant number of whom are on H-1B and L1 visas.
Nah - over 50% layoffs are H-1B from India, and Google quit issuing perm applications months ago. A hiring freeze back in August! https://www.dice.com/career-advice/googles-extended-hiring-freeze-could-impact-company-culture The article below is current but there was another one a few months ago. https://eng.bharattimes.co.in/tech-layoffs-google-pauses-green-card-applications-from-employees/ This is stopping of H-1B, a really good thing. It's not about race - it's about equity, standing, and access to opportunity in your country regardless of skin color. Personally, I think the H-1B workers have been treated poorly and like de facto slaves - entirely hired at employers' will. Maybe it will free them up to other opportunities as well. Australia, Norway, Holland.
We don't need them here either, thanks.
Curious. That is not at all what I've heard from folks I know who work at amazon, including a couple who were effected.
Do tell - what are they saying?
