History doesn't just repeat, it echoes.
The Night of the Long Knives was a purge that took place in Germany from June 30 to July 2, 1934, during which the Nazi regime, led by Adolf Hitler, killed several high-ranking members of the Sturmabteilung (SA), also known as the "Brownshirts." The SA was a paramilitary organization that played a key role in Hitler's rise to power, but by 1934, Hitler and other members of the Nazi Party had grown concerned about the SA's power and influence. The Night of the Long Knives was an effort to neutralize the SA and consolidate Hitler's power. In addition to members of the SA, the purge also targeted other perceived opponents of the Nazi regime, including political rivals and members of the German conservative establishment.
