BTW, I've always wondered why they're called cinder blocks by some people. I've always called them cement blocks, because they're made of cement, no cinders involved.
Well they are called cinder blocks because back in the day, they used coal ash as part of the aggregate mix to make them. As you might expect they put it in everything concrete “lots of coal ash and a pain in the ass to get rid of” and the high acidity of the coal ash causes the cement to degrade. I know this because the mortar used to build my old house used said coal ash which caused said house to slowly decompose like it was bit by a komoto dragon, I then spent much of my time tuck pointing said house to keep it upright.
I never saw any concrete blocks like that. My previous house was concrete blocks on a concrete slab and over 70 years old. It is perfectly square, plumb, and level, and there are no cracks anywhere. It has stood up to countless hurricanes with zero damage.
millstones.com, silly. And yes that's a real site for selling original antiques.
Or you can buy new ones from Amazon. They have several to choose from. The cheapest is this one:

Cinder blocks work in a pinch
