I don't shop at Whole Foods much, but I do buy organic produce when available. I do it for the perceived reduction in industrial agricultural contaminants such as glyphosate. I believe glyphosate is a problem for me personally, and most likely causes health problems for everyone. Glyphosate is known to kill bacteria. I believe it damages healthy gut bacteria, allowing room for unhealthy bacteria to flourish. Our gut produces a lot of the hormones that help to regulate our mood. If our gut isn't healthy it can cause anxiety, depression, mood swings, etc. Seems like everyone suffers from these types of issues now. Perhaps the widespread use of glyphosate on our food is the reason. Or maybe it's a small part of an overall toxic environment we've created. I do what I can to minimize my exposure to things such as glyphosate, fluoride, etc. I don't go overboard about it, but I feel like reducing my intake of industrialized food products has definitely improved my health.
A couple other points:
Amazon has only owned Whole Foods since 2017, so these stories from 2010 have nothing to do with Amazon. I think Whole Foods had honorable intentions in providing better food to people. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Depends on who you ask. Has it been corrupted since being acquired by Amazon? Probably.
These stories were published in 2 of the most corrupt media outlets, so I tend to question everything about them. If they tell me not to buy organic foods from Whole Foods, my first thought is: Who would benefit from convincing me not to shop at Whole Foods?
I used to shop there too so that's why I know they are expensive. I used to like them a lot.
Then something changed. Their pastries were so loaded with sugar you cannot even take a bite. Their soup so salty you puked. Then they go woke by dimming all the lights so you cannot see. After that, bye.
That's Portland Oregon for you.
