Chickens naturally drop in egg production in the winter months due in large part to the shorter daylight hours. Some people force production by leaving a light on in the coop. We just allow them to naturally produce. Good news is the days are getting longer now so there will be an increase in eggs soon:)
Use dog food. I supplement with dog food during winter and have only a slight decrease in egg production. Breed makes a difference also.
