I am/will be a novice at this. Haven’t a clue who to go to, what to expect, the questions to ask. PBman2 offered up some good context on silver. I just sold a house. How much would you advise I spend on both? I don’t trust banks and since gold will destroy the FED and I’m going to be flush with cash from my house sell, I’m ready to jump in. What’s the safest way to get it? I don’t trust P.O. Boxes either.

Good idea. I would love to find a dealer who price their merch based on what they paid! Sounds like they’re not into it to make money. I do like the idea of being able to buy locally. Think I’m going to make friends with my local guy and check around for others. Many thanks for your advice.
But that is the word of warning. At the time the silver prices were down, so they would have coins priced at, say, $26 per ounce when the market price was lower and you could buy coins at $22 per ounce. I’m guessing if the market was higher they would raise their prices, so I just never shop at those places and stick to actually coin dealers. Which maybe they did antiques too, but you want someone that presents themselves as a coin shop, not just having one section of their display cases with a few coins in it. In my experience.
