I beg to differ. The cobalt being mined for the lithium in Africa is done by hand by tens of thousands of workers, including many children. They don't need oil to do it. The workers even heat their dwellings and cook with wood. That is the "environmentally friendly" future our overlords envision for us. The probably do use oil to deliver the cobalt to the battery factories, but that's unavoidable.
