Conspiracy theorists are an endangered species. It's difficult to be one when even your most far-fetched and cynical theories about the people in charge turn out to be true and even crazier than you could have imagined. We should just admit defeat on this one. The cabal got us when they started monologuing their evil plans to anyone who would listen. It's starting to get harder and harder to find evil things they forgot to brag about. Some of us may be forced to give up and settle for just being people who pay attention to what goes on around them and those who don't immediately forget the last narrative when the new one comes out, noticing how they always contradict each other so cannot both be true. Having a memory of more than 1 week also helps.
I wonder if we should try to adopt a new label. Maybe the "The Non-Amnesiacs" or "Those Who Pay Attention to What Happens Around Them". Granted, none of these roll off the tongue just yet so I'll keep workshopping them.
