Something tells me that there could be a certain segment of people that wouldn't be too sad, say if chickens instantly died, and food could not grow.

If I recall my chemistry lessons, Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) is hydrochloric acid - the stuff that's in your stomach. So it's going to rain stomach acid and digest everything?
