It is! And it's all driven from the ancestors' worship of the stars and astrological cycle, as far as I understand it. The constant push for a gnosis of hidden things, branches heavily throughout an "occult" tradition. Occult coming from the latin occulo, occludere (to hide) or occulus ludere (to play [with an] eye).
The big problem with the symbols, for me, is the abundance of translations and interpretations. Like, I get it, these people each want to have secrets that only a known few may understand. But damn, if it doesn't make it difficult to understand. The ambiguity is beneficial to Satan, and is in direct opposition to the Logos.
I suppose I got deeply confused by the Isis, since the Black Madonna appears throughout early Christian worship. Perhaps, sometimes, certain individuals wanted her to misdirect early Christians?
