Love and totally accept the Truth in this scripture, but how are we meant to do that? God told us to PUT ARMOR ON to Guard our heart for the battle.. Not to sit in a Fox Hole.. Armor covers the Front of us in the direction of the Battle, but leaves your back relatively exposed… Guard our hearts absolutely, but not by Running From the Purpose for the Armor.. Protecting our Heart and Being in the Battle are both necessary and are not meant to be Mutually Exclusive …
I agree. But you have to warn people to armor up before they go in. I believe the verse is about what you allow "IN", what penetrates and can therefore change you, change your heart. It is not about the outflow which is what most people use the verse for. Love freely, fight unencumbered. You have to keep your heart pure in order to do that. Some people are sadly not strong enough to adequately guard. I was taught the verse is about a well. You guard the well against pollution so the water of life can flow from you. Blessings Fren.
And blessings back at you Fren.. was in no way meaning to be critical of your comment.. I don’t believe we are able to protect ourselves.. only the word of God and relationship with its author will.. Many of the greatest warriors I know have the purest waters flowing from them because they understand that.. just trying to encourage Good People to do both.. Thank you for your comment and opening the door on the importance of Armoring up… Have a Great day
Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
