My father worked all his life as did his father and grandfather along with 2 of his brothers. They worked on the L&N Railroad. Used to be Louisville and Nashville but is now bought out by CSX. Of course there wasn't as many trains then, but still that number should be cut in half. And I only remember one bad train wreck when I was about 4 years old. It happened down south somewhere around Louisiana or Mississippi. They called in Railroad Workers from everywhere. It was a 2 train head on collision if I remember right. My father was gone for 2 weeks with his 2 brothers. I remember when he got home and how my mother cried. I had only heard of perhaps 2 derailments in my life other than that bad one. So I think someone is upping these numbers to make it sound like this is usual and they shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Train derailments?
Looks like train accidents all causes. The list is long. Appears to be a few types of derails.
