I don't think it is true any more. I wasn't there at the time. My adult children did the update and were a little alarmed that it suddenly demanded that they exit the vehicle because of the possibility of being trapped.

To me it is the same thing - this warning is to establish consent. That we all consent to them making cars that can trap us inside with a command issued over the air.
