I've always owned and loved low tech vehicles. Simple = reliable. Cash for clunkers purposely took out the simple and reliable vehicles. If you can't be stopped with a keystroke, you can't be controlled by whomever. If you can't fix it yourself, you don't actually own it. If you can't hold it in your hand, you don't own it. Stay simple, stay handy, stay ungovernable.
