According to the Bible, mankind was one migrant group after the flood. They moved into Mesopotamia. All the stories and information that was known by Adam & Eve would have been passed down, until eventually written down by Moses. With the long ages people had*, there weren't very many generations between Adam and the tower of Babel. According to research recorded in The Two Babylons, a descendant of Noah's son Ham, named Nimrod, developed with his wife, Semiramis, a twisted occult religion using the familiar stories and promises that had been passed down.
*We age and die because with every cell division, the tail at the end of the chromosomes, the telomere, shortens. Kids born with progeria have short telomeres. That's why they look like old people. Cancer would never die because it produces telomerase which repairs the telomere. Cancer dies because it kills its host. Our cells have the ability to produce telomerase but it has been shut off. The longest living man, Methuselah, lived 969 years, however, the ages of man rapidly declined after the flood.
From the article, "Over 4,300 years ago, one of these prostitute-priestesses, Enheduana, wrote the oldest words by an author whose name is known today; archeologists have unearthed many clay tablets of her cuneiform poetry."
These writings mentioned are commonly understood amongst scholars to be the predecessor of many, many, many Bible passages. I know that probably rubs some people the wrong way; but it's true. These words were originally written to exalt this goddess (known in the Old Testament as "Ashera" - another later name for her in the Levant).
Also, notice the owl symbolism along with the lion.
