Any time the president (or in this case the “resident”) is on an Air Force aircraft that plane is called Air Force One. This would mean if he is on a C17 or B2, it would take that call sign.
There are many reasons to fly the “resident” in the other VIP/SAM aircraft and the 747s that are typically associated with presidential airlift group do require maintenance.
On top of this, while there are two 747s well known to be Air Force One, there is also a pair of 757s, mainly used to visit airports that are too small to fit a 747.
I attended a Trump Rally where he arrived on one of the 757 Air Force Ones in 2020 (Opa Locka).
(Trump's personal plane is also a 757, he made some jokes about this).

I was thinking that Trump Force One being "refurbished" was to install maybe a lot of the tech that's also on Air Force One.
