I ordered some Ivermectin tabs from our friend Reynold a few days ago. Got the shipping notice today so I suspect they're a couple weeks out now.
We still have some leftover horse paste, but I can't stand the taste of the stuff.
Really just got them in case we get sick as the horse paste has nipped any colds we got since Covid right in the bud with one dose.
But now thinking it also might be good as a regular anti-parasitic as we have dogs and chickens, plus cows down the road.
So I was searching for Ivermectin articles. came across this one: https://www.nature.com/articles/ja201711
"Ivermectin’s primary target is glutamate-gated chloride channels, although it also active against other invertebrate neurotransmitter receptors, including GABA-, histamine- and pH-sensitive chloride channels.35, 36, 37 In addition, ivermectin exposure alters expression of genes involved in the reproduction mechanism of female worms, even at low concentrations"
Histamines are a big part of seasonal allergies, which I have in spades, but they're talking about histamines with relation to invertebrates.
However, in this article: https://www.uspharmacist.com/article/drug-therapy-for-common-parasitic-infections-within-the-united-states
"Enhancement of GABA activity may occur in humans as well, and ivermectin should not be coadministered with GABA-ergic drugs"
I'm wondering if Ivermectin may also tinker with histamine sensitivity. Possible there's a hidden benefit for those of us with allergies. Alternatively, it may do nothing, or may make them worse.
There appears to be some evidence, although not with respiratory symptoms - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27566864/
"Among the 1,446 patients who had Strongyloides serologic tests ordered, 127 (8.8%) had positive test results. Eighty-four patients had follow-up data regarding allergy-type symptoms after ivermectin treatment. Among these, 52 patients (61.9%) reported skin-related problems (pruritus, urticaria, angioedema, and/or rash). Forty-nine patients (58.3%) had asthma, and 73.8% had allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. Although respiratory symptoms typically did not respond to ivermectin treatment, 24 of 48 patients (50%) with skin symptoms reported a significant subjective improvement of symptoms after ivermectin treatment."
Just some info for my frens. I have no training and this is not medical advice.
Wonder how it affects GABA ..
Old thread and probably no one will see this, but I received the ivermectin from Reynold.
I got the email notification from USPS that it couldn't be delivered and I had to pick up from post office.
Later in the day, Reynold actually called me (went to voicemail) and let me know that it was ready to pick up, along with sending a followup email. Dude seems like a super nice guy and it had to be after dark in India when he called.
Couldn't be happier. Don't have a need for most of what he provides on his site, but I can definitely recommend him if you do.
