I can't help but wonder, especially nowadays when widely available information sharing is so prevalent, why these guys don't just release how-tos of what they discovered.
I mean, it's obvious they aren't going to get a patent. If they release publicly then at least that could be some sort of historical record. Maybe we can work out the patent rights after the information deluge happens. Heck, set up a gofundme account.
Sure would be better then dying without anyone having a clue what you figured out. Worse case you benefit the world and don't get the credit you deserved, but at least that's worth more than losing your life or your life's work.
