Dr Mobeen Rathore, from the University of Florida, told DailyMail.com residents in Charlotte County should avoid exposing their nose to tap water - including while showering.

I'm sorry, but if I was going to use a Neti-pot or some such thing to put water up my nose into my sinus cavity, I wouldn't think to use straight up tap water. I would either get a purified bottled water or boil the tap water first. Yuck!

We use a Neti-pot routinely. No way would we use tap water. We use distilled. I won't put our un-filtered water in my mouth, let alone rushing through my sinuses. Crap we have a filter for our shower.
