Heh, that reminds me of a classic misreading I did many years ago. It was spring and I was a student at the University of Tennessee and the new academic year was about to start. While drinking my first cup of coffee that morning (my brain doesn't engage until if gets a caffeine kick), I was perusing the newspaper and on p. A-4 saw the headline: "25,000 Students Die at UT."
I thought to myself, "well then, it's overcrowded anyway," until I realized that couldn't be right, so I turned back and re-read the headline: "25,000 Students DUE at UT." Oh... well, that's different!

Ha! Your matter-of-fact reaction to your misread makes it even better🐸
