I live in Lee Co AL and there is a smoky haze with a funny smell. We drove around in a five mile circle and it's as far as the eye can see. Unidentifiable smell- not smoke. The sky is cloudless and blue--behind the haze which the sun cannot penetrate. It's ruining an otherwise beautiful day.

But when I asked about the smoke, someone shrugged unconcerned saying "Ft. Benning is burning". But it extended to Opelika as well, so, no way!
...the wind is 3 mph out of the east so I doubt if anything from Ft Benning would be detectable except in the extreme southern portions of Lee County, and certainly not as far north as Opelika....
