I remember the first stages of feminism in the 60's, it all went well for a few weeks then out of nowhere there were psychotic man haters everywhere with hatred and murder on their minds shouting down anyone who wasn't as radical as them.

This is standard behavior for psychopaths, they don't start any sort of social movement or other invention but they do invade it and take charge very quickly.
