"would allow government to track all of your transactions" - jokes on them, Bitcoin already does that. And via the NSA all digital transactions through banks are tracked too. The tracking is not the highest priority danger (though it is one) it's the absolute control they would have over how the currency could be spent and the distribution of it as such
