AT THE VERY LEAST make sure you send FROM a protonmail account to James' protonmail. Email is NOT encrypted outside of protonmail's system and you can be dead sure they're watching for emails to James to intercept.

They would also have a piece of self-incriminating evidence including a photograph of your face, as James requests. Here's what I think is a better plan: record something useful, incriminating to the bad guys and then send THAT to James via Protonmail or whatever. Leave your face out of it.
