My recollection on Dresden was the US bombed infrastructure during the day and the Brits dropped incendiaries at night. Possibly payback for Battle of Britain, V1, & V2 bombings which wreaked havoc on civilians. Whether that was the actual reason, unspoken or otherwise, that is how the bombing was carried out, US by day, Brits by night..
