Hello my friends, judging by the title you might be curious what this is my about. Yesterday unfortunately, my own brother who has severe autism and is mentally disturbed a bit. He just suddenly ran away from home, why he did this is due to him being tired of how the country is going and CA is treating their citizens. He's a 38 year old adult but yet has the mind of a child due to his disability, he doesn't take any medication whatsoever.
He left notes behind explaining more of his personal reasons and whatnot but I'll leave some of those parts out for privacy, but how we found out he was missing is my mom noticing him missing suddenly last morning and not showing up. We checked his belongings and only found his usual clothes that he wears are missing, where as his other belongings are left behind.
Keep in mind, he didn't bring anything except only his wallet and clothes. So no car or anything else like a phone to contact him. So I worry how he'll even make it out there without being homeless or something worse happening, at first me and my family thought he was abducted by someone. How we came to this conclusion is due to the bedroom window net being slashed open, we thought he would never do this and belived that he was kidnapped.
Some of you might wonder if he had outside help in doing such, we're not sure since he's not the kind to be socially adept, he stated that he's leaving to LAX and away from CA. Where would he be going, he hinted some states like TX, CA, AZ, IA, and maybe AK. So far we had nothing, except his last statement is that "He cannot be stopped at all."
Law Enforcement has nothing at all in terms of where he might have went, right now I am rather saddened of how I treated him bad sometimes. He wasn't even feeling anything bad the day prior, but I can understand that if he viewed himself with negative opinion because of his disability and wasn't vocal with his family about it. I don't think he's suicidal, but I hope he'll come back one day if he's still alive by now.
If the mods want to sticky this thread please do, prayers are really urgently needed and I feel still terrible about this occurrence. If anyone here has any more questions if you're curious or want to help, feel free to do so. But at this point I myself and family have been looking for him nonstop for two days, and are getting to the point of being exhausted. Life has to continue and the Lord's work has to be done, ether ways His Will be done.
Well I'll be away for a while, goodbye for now.
I’ll pray for his safe return. A couple of things- first, any updates?
Here in FL we have something called a “Purple alert” which is similar to Amber alert, only for people with mental or cognitive disabilities, but not Alzheimer’s (that would be Silver.) Do you have anything like that? One would think if you notified LE about his severe autism etc, they would direct you somehow.
Does anyone manage his money? You say severe autism, and I have a nephew with the same and there is no way he can make decisions about leaving, flying etc independently. He’s just a little kid, though but I would think at some point someone would have been appointed to manage his personal affairs.
If he headed to LAX, did you go there, contact anyone regarding his vulnerable status? Surely, that would be my first stop if he mentioned it. Also, does he have any money? He can’t go too far without money. Check LE near any known homeless encampments or public places such as parks, beaches, libraries, playgrounds etc. homeless shelters? Go to every one of them and tell them the situation. A flyer with a photo would help them. Hopefully, he becomes tired and hungry and comes back soon.
He's more of a quiet type and doesn't like to be around people, you see I found it difficult he managed walk from near North Hollywood to LAX on foot which is basically like 6 hours, but he had an entire head start since the day after that's when we found the notes. An officer said they checked the cameras and found nothing, I don't think all of them have been checked. Airport is pretty huge to cover all around, I hope he does come back. We don't know how much money he has, but he does have a thing to save it up despite not liking it much.
