No electricity since Wednesday thanks to the freezing rain and bad management.
Any other island frogs here "roughing it"?

We had a pretty significant freezing rain event back in February. We were without power for 8-9 days. I got to reap the rewards of years of prepping for a grid down scenario.
Everything was a mess, helped 8 neighbors wire up their generators. Local gas station ran out of fuel by day 5. It was a mess, but it was also great to watch the community come together and help each other get through it.
Stay safe, and don't forget to check the oil on your generator.
"Riiiiiiiiiiiight" 🤔
In other words. I wasn't prepared. I'm stuck in this shity city apartment (Montreal) and want out!
Need a farmhand Bob?
Also live - stuck?- in Montréal. In same appartement for over 20 years and cannot move due to the forever increasing rent ( would pay more than twice what I pay now for same space). On the bright side with money I save I got myself a standing freezer that I pack with meat from organic farm- https://www.saint-vincentbio.com/ -that deliver to your door for 10$. And so I do not lose all that precious food I also got a generator just in case but since I live on a welfare street with no trees I did not lose power. Get prepared for next time! P.S.: Also want out but making the best of a not perfect situation in the meantime. Best of luck to you!
Merci dude! Good news is my power comes back at six... So says Hydro. Did you catch Legault talking about helping eachother and going to visit one another? I remember the meme fucker telling us to stay away from grandma a couple years ago...Fuck Legault caliss.
Bon courage Fren.
I have not watched TV in years so I did not have the bad luck of seeing or hearing Legault's drivel. It is indeed a sad state of affair that virtually all of our political class is mediocre at best, treacherous bastards at worst. Bon courage à toi aussi Fren.
Every fall I fill 4-6 5gal jugs with fuel as we often get freezing rain/snow that results in several days without power. If I don’t use the gas in the winter I just use it to mow with in the summer. I have 2 acres to mow so it always gets used up. I can also use it in the 2 vehicles we have as slightly stale gas works fine in them. Always good to be prepared. I also have 2 generators, both Honda. One small one, 2200 watts, and the other one 5500 watts. The bigger Honda is over 25 years old and still runs great but the smaller one is more fuel efficient and runs most of the house except the heat pump. We just use the gas fireplace for heat.
I lost power for two weeks during the election steal.
I really stepped up my prepping game since then, I have a generator to run my gas furnace, and if that doesn't work. I have a gas heater I can just connect to my gas line. I installed a T and a shut off valve allready.
...here in Ohio's heartland, we were down for about 36 hours last Saturday/Sunday....
Good thing Ohio doesn't get too cold... If you have a good Wood stove you have no worries in that sense.
Got to -10 celsius last night over here but at least it wasn't like the 1998 ice storm. That storm was in January with -20 days and colder nights. Back then I lost power for 3 weeks but I stayed at buddies houses thank God.
...indeed....
Still cutting dead trees from ours two years back. Every tree had damaged limbs on the N side. Many never recovered. But yeah, got that generator ready.
Freezing rain is a killer. So heavy it took down power lines and poles.
