Not really. Gilgamesh spent a lot of time trying to find a way to become immortal and failed every time, due to a series of weak lapses. That was the main philosophical point of the original story, no one escapes death except Utnapishtum, who is special. Stories about Gilgamesh continued to churn out for a thousand years, probably the longest-running soap opera ever. Osiris' story is practically the reverse. He dies, gets chopped up, eventually the pieces are collected and reassembled by his devoted wife, and voila, now he does live forever as the God of the dead. One might argue that if you have to live as a mummy in the Land of the Dead, it isn't much of a life though.
