(spoilers below)
One of the very few mass media things I watch is Picard - skipped the first two seasons but the third isn't bad. Let's just say I'm watching in a way that doesn't support CBS/Paramount.
Just watched ep 09. When the under-25 crowd got assimilated into the Borg, I couldn't help thinking it was an allusion to the woke mind virus.
Anyone else get that same vibe? The whole Borg subplot has always felt sorta Deep State to me, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Also the whole "everything in the fleet must be integrated and centrally controlled" plot line seems like it's reflective of where we're heading. Using the old ways or old tech (Enterprise-D) to get around the centralized control also struck a chord with me.
Maybe it's just art imitating life, but it's a little spooky.
If the Borg were meant to allude to the woke mind virus, then I believe that was unintentional on the part of the show runners. I know that in ST:TNG, the Borg were the stand-ins for the Soviet Union/Communists, but in the past few years, most of the actors* and producers involved with Star Trek have openly stated their hatred for President Trump and his supporters. I think they were trying to play the Borg as the MAGA movement in the same way that Star Trek Discovery did with the Klingons.
*Oddly enough, the only two actors who haven't come down on Trump supporters are William Shatner and Avery Brooks. Based Kirk and Sisko, FTW!

The Boys tried that shit in season 2 so I didn’t even bother with season 3
