I feel there is more to this than just the $8 it costs.
If the blue check is gone, could it mean the celebrity is gone?
Too many rich/famous people are complaining about being impersonated.

Agree with most of the comments posted this far. $8 is nothing... so what else is going on here? Not being catered to (“elevated”) is part of it, but I don’t think it is everything. I think it is a ticket or a pass into something else...? Don’t sort of “secret” handshake or nod.

Maybe they got exclusive back behind the scenes extras for all that money. Just think something like pizza gate for the rich and demented.
As good an extra food eea as any! But something is up for sure....!
