Losing respect for Rutgers
It's my alma mater and I feel the same way. The old ag school (now called SEBS - school of environmental and biological sciences) has a Dean who expertise is in vertical gardens. When I went there, we had great plant breeders who brought in the bulk of patent money for turf grass. We were tops for soils mapping. Some of the oldest test plots for fertilizer additions were performed there. Such a sorry decline.
Many of my high school buddies went there. I attended a few parties and the bar scene there. They all graduated with decent degrees and made a life for themselves. Sounds like you also had a ery good experience and learned valuable skills. Sad to read about these virtue signaling changes universities are involved with. Perhaps they're all up to shannigans and always have been but not to this extent. It's horrible.
The bar scene was awesome. When I went there, there was no virtue signaling. It was just school - you worked hard and then you partied hard. Schools have become increasingly political.
💯 agree about the bar scene and school being about learning with no virtue signaling.
