The US has one of the most redistributory tax systems in the western world, much more so that the UK which has had more left wing Governments. Mostly it redistributes money from wealthy democrat voting states to less affluent republican voting states. Liberals subsidise Conservatives.

If the USA scrapped federal tax and spending Liberals would get a lot richer, Conservatives a lot poorer
