Posted in the general discussion, but I think this deserves it's own post.
So, I was listening to Clownfish TV's (pop culture commentators that has a good feel on the culture wars) recent episode discussing the mess between DeSantis and Disney, when one of the hosts mentioned, briefly, that "right-wingers" are now attacking anime on social media.
This is surprising news for me, so I want some evidence if this is true and what is going on, because I have a feeling that there is more to this beneath the social media surface that might negatively impact our GreatAwakening.
Nothing turned up so far when I searched YouTube and Truth Social was equally quiet on that front, so I was wondering if it was a hoax.
I've seen some "right wing influencers" like that Brittany Venti attacking it and certain popular VTubers but regarding a general right-wing attack I'll quote Bill Hicks "where's this shit happening?" Anime has a lot of right-leaning fans, especially the older stuff from the 80s and 90s. Manga is increasingly outselling western comic books because lack of wokeness as well.
As for Clownfish TV, while they're rather balanced in their reporting never forget that they're still lefties, it's just really obvious with the wife to where I skip the video if she's on it and starts ranting.
Yeah.
I guess I should've waited to post until after the male co-host actually talked about this "right-wing attack on anime" and presented his evidence, but such of thing was so out of character for the "right-wingers" that I know of that I felt compelled to investigate, just in case I've missed a potentially major development in the culture wars that can affect the Great Awakening in a negative way.
Yeah if you want a more right-leaning opinion there's Nerdrotic, Geeks & Gamers, YellowFlash, YoungRippa (Eric July), Razorfist, etc. I've not heard any of them attacking anime or manga like how they criticize what western comics have become.
