The “practicality” of this procedure has ranged in claims of preventing bed wetting, helping prostate cancer, and more ridiculous things. None of which are true. We live in a country where we can shower every day you do not need to force the “practicality” of ablating swaths of genital tissue onto people without their consent. We don’t live in a desert hellhole in the year 4000BC we have access to plenty of clean water to keep our bodies healthy.
A procedure started by a puritan who advised it as a way to prevent masturbation. You are operating on outdated and debunked propaganda of people who are adamant about wanting to cut pieces of infant penis off.
so what? millions of "victims" of this procedure will tell you they prefer it that way. there's no associated trauma or suicide rate, because nothing is lost. its like having an innie vs an outie. its cleaner and looks better, and its a huge pain to do when you're older. just makes sense.
i've heard people get insanely nasty during this debate. its not child abuse, regardless of the reasons given for doing it.
Why don’t adult people line up for it if it’s so great. Your ideals of cleanliness and aesthetics can only be forced on the unconsenting for it to be this prevalent.
I prefer ideals that attract people of their own merit, not because generations were strapped down and had it forced upon them.
come on. that cannot possibly be a genuine argument. convenience or aethetics isn't worth putting your genitals under the knife as an adult.. but when you're born, you barely even notice or remember. not a big deal. i can't think of a single downside. its not disabling, its not cruel or traumatic. trans surgery is ultimately all 3 of those things.
not everything in this life is a conscious autonomous choice. especially in childhood... parents are in charge of their childrens health and early lives. you may not agree with it, but that doesn't equate it with s.r.a
You’re not wrong to feel that way about yourself and you’re right I’m not trying to make a direct point by point comparison between the two but if you want to uproot an adrenochrome addicted cult that rules the world it’s worth considering that this country was tricked into unnecessarily performing surgery without anesthesia on infants for decades now and why even you’re defending it.
The truth is the “aesthetics” and “convenience” so rarely outweigh what they know they have that they virtually never seek out the procedure. It can only propagate itself by being forced on the helpless.
People would allow a stranger to perform surgery on a baby for their own personal ideals of AESTHETICS - not only that they’re imposing their personal beauty standards on an infant’s genitals by force. Not only that, the right to do so is defended by saying the baby won’t remember the procedure.
The hair on the back of my neck stands up when I think of somebody justifying what they did to a child to fulfill their own selves by saying “they won’t remember”.
