I remember when they were trying to pretend we wanted them to release GMO mosquitoes - there was a lady who easily gathered over 200,000 signatures on a petition to the EPA not to do it. That woman was found dead in a rooftop hotel pool in DC the day before she was going to meet with EPA and give them the petition and information.
