Interesting, BUT nowadays (actually all my life) I always read war correspondence, reports, and such with a heavy dose of skepticism. We always have to ask ourselves,
"Who benefits from this piece?"
"Is there a hidden agenda here?"
"Is this information factual? ... and based on what?"
The first and last casualty of any war is the truth; so I'm not accepting this at face value, especially because I've never heard of this source before.
The stuff he was quoted was referencing an Israeli media outlet, IIRC. The links are to that news article which is how we get the play by play of the Israeli former PM's conversation.
The words from Medvedev and the Kremlin's official statements have been widely reported and can be found on their official social media channels in Russian, if you're dedicated enough to look at them with a translator.
But I totally respect the skepticism. This is exactly what we need to be doing with every article that comes out of official sources from any country. There's always an agenda with any information that is put out.
I have also heard voices like Scott Ritter, Douglas McGregor and others echoing the interpretation that Zelensky's in trouble. Ukraine appears to be on the way to losing this war. The counteroffensive we keep hearing about seems to be last ditch effort. The war mappers are showing Ukraine moving troops and equipment south towards Kherson and Zaporozhia for a push across the Dnieper River and towards Crimea. I'm doubtful they'll even get so far as securing the Zaporozhia nuclear power plant. Wagner's pulling out of Bakhmut. Russian regular troops are moving in to secure and hold the territory, and Russian missiles and air strikes are now focusing on ammo and supply heading towards this new southern front. Russia's pulling civilians out of harm's way preemptively which is critical. It will prevent Ukraine from occupying apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure and using civilians as human shields against Russia's highly effective artillery bombardments.
Unless we see some major surprises on the battlefield, this counteroffensive will probably be a whole lot of fanfare and very little substance.
I imagine now that winter-spring is over and troop movements aren't as dependent on weather and soggy geography, we should see this whole mess wrap up in months, if not weeks.
pretty much what you have to ask on every "news" article you read, regardless, nowadays.
